Through the "Island" project, we cover rent and maintenance costs for apartments, and provide all the essentials for children with cancer — and their families — who travel to Saint Petersburg from other regions for medical treatment. This support spares parents the burden of searching for temporary housing, allowing them to focus on what matters most: their children’s recovery.

Thanks to your support, we were able to cover the rent for three apartments, fully equipped to ensure a comfortable stay for those we assist and their families. Each apartment provides a bed, a wardrobe, and kitchenware, offering residents a place to rest peacefully and spend time in the company of neighbors in a spacious living room.

Thank you for taking part in the collection drive and supporting the "Island" project. Your care and kindness have helped children and adults alike feel right at home.

About the campaign

Families living during the fight against cancer: the foundation needs help in renting apartments

The charitable foundation «svet.deti» has been helping children and young adults struggling with cancer for 17 years at various stages of treatment and beyond. Families who come to St. Petersburg from different regions often turn to us for help. They travel hundreds, thousands of kilometers for the sole purpose of the child's recovery.

Thanks to the help of those who support the project called «Island» («Ostrov»), we are renting three apartments for temporary residence of the wards. The island is a place where children can get enough sleep after weeks spent in the wards. To remember what personal space is, to feel the comfort and tranquility of a home environment. It's not just apartments, it's a space of life around the disease.
