At age 2, Gore was diagnosed with a malignant liver mass, hepatoblastoma. The boy learned to speak Russian in a Moscow hospital, where doctors fought for his life for 10 months. There was no limit to the happiness of Gayane's parents and grandmother when the attending doctor told them that Gore was absolutely healthy. But two years later the disease returned. Since then Gore was treated in different hospitals in Armenia and Russia.
Gore is now seven years old. He is in the Voyno-Yasenetsky NPC in Solntsevo. His grandmother Gayane says that the doctors chose the chemo that could shrink the tumor by 50 per cent. Before that the long course of treatment gave only a slight positive momentum. Now Gore is undergoing another course of chemotherapy, which the doctors have high hopes for. The goal of chemotherapy is to make the tumor smaller and operable.
After a thorough exam, the doctors decided to operate to remove the tumor. The surgery, which is the only way to save Gore's life, will be very difficult, as his parents warned. The tumor, although significantly shrunk after chemotherapy, continues to sprout into the vital vessels. Along with the removal of the tumor, it is inevitable that the vessel will be removed and replaced with an artificial one. We hope, we really hope, that the doctors will be able to cope with this difficult task.
