As an infant, Polina suffered a severe neurological infection. She couldn't walk, talk, or hold a spoon or pencil on her own. Soon, Polya lost her mother and ended up in an orphanage.
The foundation arranged treatment for her in Moscow: she underwent the necessary surgeries, followed by extensive rehabilitation. A nanny from the foundation was by her side throughout this time. Today, the girl walks independently, talks, and smiles more and more often.
For a child without a family, a nanny during treatment is more than just help with household chores. They are an adult who will support her, comfort her after procedures, and be there when she's scared.
Right now, the foundation is caring for children who cannot cope without care. After surgeries, many of them are unable to walk independently; some need help with hygiene, feeding, and mobility; and for others, simply having a caring adult nearby is especially important.
