Ilya is 17 years old. He lives in a specialized orphanage in the Smolensk region. His mother passed away long ago, and his father was not involved in his upbringing, but Ilya refuses to give up. Severe motor disabilities don't stop him from loving poetry, writing poems, experiencing genuine joy, and being grateful for each new day.
Recently, the foundation helped Ilya and organized a complex orthopedic surgery in Moscow. Now he faces intensive rehabilitation, which he can't endure alone. "A teenager especially needs a friend and mentor nearby," the foundation says.
Children need someone around the clock to monitor their exercise routine, remind them of doctor's appointments, and simply offer encouragement when things are tough. For Ilya and the other children in our care, these are the foundation's foster nannies, who help the most vulnerable, those who have no one else to comfort and cheer them up.
Now, while Ilya is recovering at the foundation's Social Center, a nanny is always by his side, keeping him motivated and reading him his favorite poems.
Help us pay for a nanny for Ilya and another child. Let's make sure they aren't left alone!
