Asad is seven years old. He has been diagnosed with delayed psychoverbal development (DPR). Until he was eighteen months old, his development was normal: he spoke individual words and understood spoken language well. However, as he approached two years of age, his parents began to notice alarming changes: new words were becoming fewer, and previously mastered words were disappearing. By the time he was two, his speech had virtually disappeared. He developed marked hyperactivity, restlessness, and difficulty concentrating. These changes began after a coronavirus infection. From that moment on, a long road to rehabilitation began.
Over the years, consistent therapy has resulted in positive progress. Asad now speaks and can express his desires and needs, but his speech is still significantly behind age norms. He has difficulty constructing sentences, maintaining a dialogue, and communicating effectively with his peers.
Despite the progress he has made, Asad still requires regular specialist assistance and further rehabilitation. Unfortunately, the cost of a full course of treatment is prohibitive for the family.
Any support will help Assad continue to develop his speech, master the necessary skills, and become more independent.
