Saidaziz and Saidakbar are twins. The boys were born prematurely, at 32 weeks. From the very first days, their condition presented a great challenge for their parents. The infants required intensive care and special care.
Their premature birth severely affected their vision. Both children have a severe eye condition called stage V retinopathy. Due to severe changes inside both eyes, the retina—the membrane that senses light—has detached. Therefore, the boys' vision is now severely impaired and remains only in response to light.
In December, Saidaziz and Saidakbar had surgery on their right eyes.
And now, doctors have prescribed highly specialized surgical treatment for both boys in St. Petersburg.
Doctors are cautiously optimistic about vision recovery, but without surgery, their eye condition remains extremely serious.
The family needs help paying for the surgeries.
