Let’s help Sofia, who has SMA, undergo rehabilitation

Sofia has type I spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). At four months old, she received gene therapy. Although the disease has stopped progressing, it has already led to muscle weakness. Sofia has developed complications from her underlying condition: grade 2 scoliosis, hip dysplasia and balance problems. Every new skill comes with great difficulty for Sofia: she practises at home every day, goes to the swimming pool with her dad and undergoes regular rehabilitation. Now, at the age of 4, Sofia can sit up and crawl with a little help, and she has also learnt to swim and dive brilliantly. Sofia needs a new course of rehabilitation. Sessions with specialists will help her master new skills and move towards her next goal — learning to stand up on her own. Please support Sofia!
