The current crisis in Lebanon, which began in late 2019, is one of the three worst in the last 170 years in world history.
In addition to a 21% decline in GDP and an inflation rate of 84.3%, most families have fallen below the poverty line.
As a result of soaring prices in all sectors of the economy, massive electricity and water cuts have become more frequent and more the norm, and Lebanese have to put up with gas supply disruptions. Many families in Lebanon cannot afford the most basic foods: dairy products and meat have become a luxury.
