Nariman is 13 years old. He has intellectual disabilities with pronounced emotional, behavioral disorders, and stereotypies. The boy was born prematurely and suffered from hypoxia. At three months, an ultrasound revealed cysts and intracranial pressure. Since 2017, he has been registered at a rehabilitation center (Makhachkala, Uzbekgorodok settlement), where he undergoes inpatient and outpatient treatment annually.
Nariman began to walk independently at one and a half years old, but had almost no speech—only individual sounds. By two and a half years, a few indistinct words appeared. After regular rehabilitation courses, there were significant improvements: Nariman began to make eye contact, developed a pointing gesture; his vocabulary noticeably increased; his understanding of spoken language improved; he became more attentive; and he sometimes says simple phrases.
Now the family needs help: the parents cannot afford the next rehabilitation course on their own, which is so important for the boy’s further development.
