Nelli is 11 years old. She is an orphan and spent many years living in an orphanage in Respublika Komi. It was there that doctors from fond «Doroga zhizni» found the girl and sent her to Moskva for examination and treatment.
In Moskva, specialists conducted a comprehensive examination, including genetic analysis, which helped clarify the diagnosis and choose the right treatment strategy. Nelli underwent several surgeries and rehabilitation courses.
"Nelli is like a little sun with a motor," laughs the girl's nanny. "She is always smiling, expects only good things from life, and treats every challenge as an adventure."
Now all the necessary treatment is behind her, and very soon Nelli will return to the orphanage, but for now she is recovering after a complex surgery at the Sotsialnyy tsentr of the foundation.
The Sotsialnyy tsentr is not just a place for temporary stay. It is a home where every child is cared for and helped not to lose the skills gained during treatment. For example, because of delayed psychomotor development, Nelli needs constant sessions with a speech therapist. The speech therapist works with all the children living at the Sotsialnyy tsentr, and every week a medical worker visits them to monitor their health between hospitalizations.
