From four to eight epileptic seizures per day, this is Yegor's reality. With such a clinical picture, he needs to move around his apartment with extreme caution to reduce the risk of injury. The first seizure occurred in 2021. The conducted examinations revealed that the cause of the epilepsy was a previous herpetic infection. Over the past few years, doctors have been working hard to find the right medication for Yegor. However, the treatment only managed to control the seizures for a few months before they returned. Unfortunately, the disease turned out to be resistant to the drugs provided by the clinical protocols. Now the vagus nerve stimulator can help Egor. During the high-tech operation, a special medical device will be placed under the child's skin. It will send weak electrical impulses to the vagus nerve around the clock, helping to reduce the epileptic activity of the brain. For Egor, this is a chance to significantly improve the quality of life: to reduce the frequency, severity and duration of seizures, making them more rare and controllable.
