Sabina is a girl with autism and delayed psycho-speech development. She does not speak, does not make contact, and has difficulty understanding speech addressed to her. The world around her sounds different—louder, more alarming, more incomprehensible. She is often anxious because she cannot express her desires and does not feel supported by words or gestures. But behind this outward restlessness is a lively child who is eagerly waiting to be heard and helped to find a path to communication.
Rehabilitation is vital for Sabina. It includes sessions with an ABA therapy specialist, who will help her learn to interact with others, understand speech, and follow simple instructions; sessions with a sensory integration specialist to reduce anxiety and learn to cope with sensory overload; as well as sessions with an adaptive physical education instructor to develop coordination and physical endurance. In addition, an individual ABA program needs to be developed, which will become the foundation for further work with the girl. The entire rehabilitation course is divided into three stages, and each of them is critically important for Sabina's development.
The family is doing everything possible to support the girl, but they cannot afford such comprehensive rehabilitation on their own. All their resources go toward basic care, and the cost of professional sessions and program development is unaffordable.
