Seventeen‑year‑old Timofey has been taking medication for pulmonary hypertension, high blood pressure in the arteries, since childhood, and that’s what keeps him alive. Due to his age, the doctors changed the boy’s treatment regimen, and now we need to help ensure there’s no “drug pause” until he can get the medications from the state.
Seventeen is the age when young people build their future, find love, and enjoy life. But Timofey can hardly experience any of that — his heart simply can’t cope with the strain. He experiences physical weakness, headaches, and fatigue (even just from an emotional conversation!). And he’s so out of breath, as if he’s just run a cross‑country race (even though he only stepped out of the room).
But Tim is alive! He’s studying at college, dreaming of one day getting a job and supporting his elderly parents in retirement. Tim’s family is large — he’s the sixth child; his retired parents can’t afford to buy medicine for their son, and without it, the boy won’t have the life he has now. He can’t miss a single appointment! And until free medicine becomes available, Tim needs us. So that his heart keeps beating!
