Saving an animal is only half the battle. The real struggle often begins later: once a dog or cat has been brought to the center, examined, and diagnosed, treatment becomes the deciding factor.
Infection and inflammation can quickly wear down a weakened patient, and specific medications are needed to combat them. Antibiotics stop infections and halt the growth of bacteria in the body. Anti-inflammatory drugs reduce swelling, fever, and pain. Injectable powders allow for precise and rapid delivery of medication, especially when every hour counts. Without this set of medications, even a correct diagnosis remains merely an entry in the medical record: the veterinarian knows what’s wrong with the patient, but has nothing with which to treat them.
More than a hundred animals pass through the 'Pitomets' center every month, and medications are used up every day. Supplies run out quickly, as the flow of patients is constant, and there are often many emergency cases among them.
