Special nutrition for Rukiyat is an important step in supporting patients with bullous epidermolysis.

The family treats 4‑year‑old Rukiyat with particular care — not only because she is the youngest child, but also because of her rare genetic condition. The girl has a severe form of epidermolysis bullosa; her skin is highly fragile and therefore requires special care.

The family is provided with the necessary dressings and care products by the “Children‑Butterflies” charitable foundation. But her delicate skin is not the only manifestation of the insidious disease. Rukiyat desperately needs special nutrition that will help replenish the deficiency of nutrients, improve the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, and provide the body with a sufficient amount of energy and all the necessary nutrients.

In epidermolysis bullosa, mucous membranes are often affected, the esophagus narrows, and blisters and wounds appear in the oral cavity. All of this makes it difficult for the child to eat regular food; children may refuse to eat and have poor weight gain.
