When Islam was one month old, doctors discovered he had a congenital heart defect. Cardiac surgeons are now recommending an operation to close the defect using a special device.
Islam is about to start Year 2. What he enjoys most is reading and music. He takes part in school concerts and music competitions, and loves performing in front of an audience. Islam also dreams of becoming a doctor and treating people.
Because of his heart defect, the boy gets tired very quickly. Even a small amount of physical exertion causes a rapid heartbeat and shortness of breath. Islam would like to take part in sport, but the doctors have not yet given him the go-ahead.
Surgery will help to repair the defect and reduce the strain on his heart. This requires a special medical device – an occluder. His parents need to purchase this themselves. Without your help, the family will not be able to manage.
