In 2024, Khamis suffered a severe spinal injury as a result of a car accident. After spinal surgery, she was left with lower paraplegia and impaired pelvic organ function.
Currently, Khamis is unable to move her legs or walk independently; she requires a wheelchair and assistance from a caregiver. She also continues to experience problems with urination and bowel movements.
Khamis has already completed rehabilitation courses, after which positive progress was observed. She learned to sit up in bed on her own, sit unsupported for some time, walk with wide walkers, and remain upright for longer periods.
Now, specialists recommend continuing rehabilitation to maintain the progress achieved and help Khamis take further steps toward independence.
She also needs assistance with accommodation and transportation expenses to undergo the course.
