Aslan's mother gave him up at the maternity hospital. From the baby home, he was placed with a foster family, but after his foster mother died during the pandemic, he ended up back in the orphanage. Fortunately, a year ago, the boy found a family again.
A few months ago, Aslan began having severe seizures and was urgently hospitalized. He spent two weeks in intensive care before being transferred to a regular ward. Aslan's mother has three other children—she cannot stay in the hospital for long periods.
The Doroga zhizni foundation came to the rescue—we provided Aslan with a professional nanny who accompanied him in the hospital.
"Our nanny was incredible!" says his mother. "She spoke to me so warmly and immediately found common ground with Aslan. I think it's because she sees not a diagnosis, but a child, and he feels that very well. A golden person! She wasn't fazed by our hyperactivity; we were constantly in touch—as if I myself were staying with Aslan in the ward."
Aslan is one of many children supported by the foundation who needed a nanny's help. Every child has their own character and needs, so an individual approach is required for each. This is the responsibility of the head nanny: she knows the particularities of all the children, selects the ideal nannies for them, coordinates the work, handles organizational matters, and supports the nannies in difficult situations.
