Little Alesya is only three months old. She is the second, long-awaited child in the family.
The pregnancy was difficult: in the third trimester, the mother was diagnosed with preeclampsia, and at 36 weeks, oligohydramnios was detected. Labor began prematurely, at 37 weeks. Alesya was born weighing only 2,530 grams. A week later, the mother and baby were discharged home, and it seemed that the worst was over.
But when Alesya turned two months old, her parents noticed that her tummy started to grow rapidly. They went to their local clinic—an X-ray revealed a mass in the abdominal cavity. The girl was referred to a children's hospital in the Republic of Mariy El. There, doctors suspected a malignant tumor of the left adrenal gland with metastases in the liver and gave a referral to the N. N. Blokhin Oncology Center in Moskva.
On July 5, the family arrived in the capital, and the diagnosis was confirmed: neuroblastoma of the left adrenal gland with metastases in the liver. The little one has already undergone two courses of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Now, to rule out primary immunodeficiency, Alesya needs to have a blood test—the 'Immunity Disorders' panel. Treatment at the Blokhin Oncology Center is covered by a quota, but any tests in outside clinics for the child are paid, and the family cannot manage without our help.
