Mukhammad is a year and a half old. Right now, the boy spends almost all his time at the NMITs Blokhin Oncology Center—doctors are fighting to save his eyesight.
It all started with strabismus: Mukhammad was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma—a condition affecting the retinas of both eyes. There is good news: one eye is showing positive progress. But there are still several courses of chemotherapy ahead—this will be long, difficult, and expensive.
Mukhammad is holding up very bravely: he walks into the doctor's office by himself, doesn't fuss, and patiently endures the procedures. And when things get tough, he hums his favorite song from the cartoon 'Siniy traktor'—it helps him smile.
The family does not have Russian citizenship, so the treatment is paid. The father is the sole breadwinner, and the mother stays by her son's side at all times.
