Artem is three years old, he is an orphan and came to Moskva from a children's home in Smolenskaya oblast for examinations by specialized doctors. Almost three years ago, shortly after birth, the boy suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. Because of the injury, Tema does not speak, does not walk, and cannot even stand on his feet.
Currently, Artem is in the hospital with a nanny provided by our foundation. Doctors believe that in order for him to walk, he needs an orthopedic surgery. But before performing it, it is necessary to make sure it is worthwhile—a rehabilitation course of 20 sessions should help assess the boy's rehabilitation potential.
A speech therapist-defectologist will also work with Tema— this will help assess his level of intellectual development and the preservation of cognitive functions. The specialist will determine whether he can consciously make efforts for rehabilitation and, of course, will help the boy learn to speak.
In October, Tema is going to the rehabilitation center 'Sila angela.' After a month of intensive work, we will understand how to make the boy's life as fulfilling as possible and develop as many of his skills as we can.
Help us pay for Artem's rehabilitation course—so that we can assess his rehabilitation potential and develop an appropriate medical plan for him.
