Halima has suffered a neuroinfection. She needs rehabilitation to regain her lost skills.

Halima was just six months old when she suffered a severe neurological infection: pneumococcal meningoencephalitis. Due to brain swelling, she spent 12 days in the ICU on a ventilator, unconscious, followed by another two months of inpatient treatment. The illness resulted in the loss of skills she had already acquired and paralysis of her left arm and leg.
Thanks to regular rehabilitation, Halima gradually recovered and was able to take her first independent steps by the age of two. However, now at four years old, her left hand still cannot grasp objects, and her vocabulary is limited to just a few words.
To continue her treatment, the family had to move closer to the rehabilitation center. Her parents are paying for rental housing while raising five children, and they no longer have the financial means to pay for Halima’s ongoing rehabilitation.
Your help will enable Halima to continue her therapy, consolidate the skills she has worked so hard to achieve, and master new ones—skills that are essential for everyday life!
