On October 23, the Sergeyev family’s home burned down. The father, a train engineer and a father of three, was away on a shift at the time. The mother, Elena, managed to wake the children, get them outside, let the dog out, and retrieve their documents and some warm clothing. By the time firefighters arrived, almost nothing remained of the house. Fortunately, the entire family survived; however, their beloved cat, Timosha, could not be saved.
The couple had spent years building the house with their own hands, gradually purchasing materials and pouring their hard work into it. The loss was so devastating that the father required medical attention.
The husband’s employer has provided the family with a temporary apartment. Neighbors have helped with clothing and basic necessities, but the living space is completely empty. The family is in need of beds, desks for the children, a refrigerator, a washing machine, and other household appliances—all of which must now be replaced.
The Sergeyevs are determined to build a new home; an assessment of the damage and the costs involved in clearing the remains of the burned-out structure is currently underway. In the meantime, they are in urgent need of support to furnish their temporary home and begin the slow process of returning to their normal lives.
Please help Elena and her family cope with the aftermath of this fire.
