Alima was born in Kyrgyzstan on 21 August 2021, at 32 weeks. As a result, she was hospitalised for two months in an incubator for premature babies. Such children face many diseases, but above all the high risk of retinopathy, which leads to retinal detachment and complete loss of vision in a short period of time.
This was also the case with little Alima. On the 2nd of December, Alima was diagnosed with stage 4 retinopathy of prematurity and retinal detachment in both eyes. This means she could lose her vision completely and permanently. In Kyrgyzstan, Alima's home country, they do not treat children like this, and she could face complete blindness. However, Alima can be successfully treated in our country, at the Voyno-Yasenetsky Research and Practical Centre for Special Medical Aid to Children in Moscow. But Alima's parents would have to pay for this surgery just like all other CIS citizens. Alima's parents are in despair due to the fact that they could not raise money for this urgent surgery for their child. The surgery must be done urgently, otherwise the irreversible changes in the retina are expected to come forward very soon.
