When Nane wants to get to know someone, she usually touches their head and hair. When she looks at something new, she tries to examine an object by touching. So it is not a coincidence that Nane likes to touch rustling objects, make shapes of plasticine, bury her palms in kinetic sand, and roll a ball on a table. For Nane it is easy intuitive language. She is 13 years old and cannot speak. In fact, Nane can’t do many things her peers normally do.
Nane had suffered from hypoxia which has caused severe damage to her central nervous system and has provoked health complications. A girl can walk with the support of an adult but she gets tired soon. Moreover, Nane quickly exhausts herself while playing. Listening to music is one of her joys—she swings along a tune sitting on her bed.
Nane’s family has been under our care since late summer. A pediatrician, a nurse, and a special needs nanny pay regular visits to them. A play therapist works with the girl at home.
Nane is growing up fast now. A stroll wheelchair her parents bought a few years ago is no longer comfortable for her. She needs the new stroll wheelchair of a proper size so she could take walks with her family.
