Akhmed has always been great support to his family. Worked hard to ensure his loved ones have everything they need. But two years ago, he started to constantly feel pain in his joints and constant tiredness. A rheumatologist tried to cure him with a lot of different medicine, but there was no long-term effect. Then one year later he started to notice livid spots all over his body.
Akhmed lives in Terek city in Kabardino-Balkaria. He’s got great loving family — beloved wife and two sons, 7 and 9 years old. They spend almost all their free time together, except when Akhmed is at work. He’s a construction worker. It’s not an easy job, but Akhmed has always liked it. Until it had become unbearable because of constant pain.
After a year of unsuccessful therapy, Akhmed was sent to hematologist in Stavropol city. In a few days he found out that he had acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
After the first shock was gone, Akhmed and his wife urgently flew to hematological center in Moscow. They hoped that it’s all just a mistake, but it was not.
During the next year Akhmed received several courses of chemotherapy and went to remission, but tumor cells are still there.
To overcome the disease Akhmed needs Blinatumomab medicine. It’s very effective in this type of therapy and it will help Akhmed body respond to treatment, but it costs 3.8 million rubles, which is more than a fortune for Akhmed’s family.
