The family learned about Maksim's diagnosis at a visit to a hepatologist. Maksim was 1.5 years old at the time. The doctor recommended a genetics test. The analysis confirmed the doctors' suspicions - the boy had Bayler syndrome. But it was impossible to choose the right treatment since there were several variants of the syndrome.
Sleepless nights began to fall, Maksim began to itch, he did not eat well and did not put on weight. The final diagnosis could not be made. The boy ended up in the intensive care unit. "We experienced a lot of things", says Maksim's mother, "but first of all it was a shock. With the child was terrible: loss of consciousness, respiratory arrest, four fractures of all limbs, because the calcium was at "zero". Then there were other medical centers, and it took at least another year and a half, until Maxim was admitted to the Akademik Fedorov Scientific Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery. Shumakov" of the Russian Ministry of Health, where they were able to give him a final diagnosis. The doctor told his parents about transplantation and that it was necessary.
At the age of 5 Maxim had a liver transplant from a related donor (his father). The surgery was successful.
But now Maksim has relapses - his feet hurt, his sugar level falls, and he is admitted to the intensive care unit for this reason. To alleviate the condition of the child appointed a long reception of a special therapeutic mixture. For 6 months of reception it is necessary as much as 48 cans. The formula is expensive, and the family cannot afford to buy it on a regular basis on their own.
