Six-year-old Elkhan from Kyrgyzstan has a rare genetic disease.
When Elkhan was born, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, but later, after additional tests, the correct diagnosis was made. Kyrgyz doctors said with open arms: Elkhan is the only child in the country with Pallister-Killian syndrome. They don't know how to treat him and what to do to help.
Elkhan's mother didn't give up and found parents of children with the same diagnosis who advised her to turn to the Akademik Medical Center, where they do rehabilitation.
The exercises are individually chosen, and even after the first rehabilitation, Elkhan began to hold his head up, and then sit down!
My son's progress motivates his mother to continue treatment. Slowly but surely, she hopes that Elkhan will develop other skills, too. For children with incurable diseases, the main goal is to maintain and improve their abilities and adapt to independent life.
