Safiya was born on 14 March 2019 in Gudermes in the Chechen Republic.
At the time of delivery, Safiya suffered a trauma that disrupted the normal functioning of the brain. Because of this, the girl's vision and nervous system were severely affected. In her first year of life, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and psychomotor retardation.
Around the same time, she developed severe strabismus, which severely interferes with her development. A little over a year ago Safiya had an eye operation to correct this. But one procedure wasn't enough. The body is growing, and some time ago the problem returned again.
Now Safiya needs to have a second operation to correct the strabismus. Otherwise, it will get worse with time and her vision will get worse.
The operation is scheduled for the beginning of March. After this operation Safija will have a completely different quality of life. She will be able to grow and develop along with her peers.
