Anastasia calls herself energizer woman. Her motto is non-stop When she was little, she had additional classes every evening: from Rhythmic gymnastics to advanced English. In high school she started to work as a waitress or promoter — she took any job that 14-year-old girl could get. In university she worked nights and evenings. “I was a big girl already”, she says about her 17-year-old self, “I had to pay my bills and help my parents”. So, she slept three hours a night, ran to university, then to work, and then once again from step one. She was energized enough energy back then. She was still energized enough when she gave birth to her daughter Anya sophomore year and when she had to raise her on her own. To give Anya everything she might need, Anastasia worked as hard as it gets. Business trips, meetings, reports didn’t stop at 6 in the evening — she still worked nights and evenings. She needed to pay for Anya’s swimming lessons and for her new winter jacket. She raised quickly from junior consultant to department chief. The only problem was to find some time to spent with her daughter. Anastasia never had a chance to help her with homework or to just walk in a park. And then Anastasia’s battery suddenly started to lose energy. She didn’t notice it at first. Yes, she needs to stay and catch her breath after 100 meters walk, so what? Is it that weird? “It actually kind of is,” said her colleagues. Then she looked in the mirror. Her face was swollen. Her throat was lumpy. She didn’t look healthy at all. Then one morning she noticed a bruise on the hip. She was sure there was none before she went to bed. A there were no sharp edges in the bed. So, she went to a doctor and found out that she has acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She spent next year fighting and she even got philosophical about it. “Everyone says: ‘Why me? Why did I get it?’ and I think it’s more about ‘What did I get it for?’ I think I just needed a break to take a look around, to understand that I lost my way. And I need to find it again.” She says, she’s not going to try to earn all the money in the world anymore when she gets better. She’s not going reduce her time with Anya to minimum, cause she has mountains of reports waiting. She wishes to walk with her in a part, get to swings, and then just breathe and get reenergized. She already passed several courses of chemo. But to overcome the disease she needs a bone marrow transplant. Luckily, there’s compatible donor in Russia. Unluckily, after a year she’s been fighting leukemia, Anastasia don’t have enough money to pay for the procedure. And she needs your help.
