The Fidelity Animal Rehabilitation Center oversees more than 3,000 neglected cats and dogs in the care of more than 50 shelters and animal volunteers. We asked caregivers and specialists at veterinary clinics what they needed most. And we found out that they need infusion pumps for better treatment of the injured animals.
Few people know what infusion therapy is, but everyone knows the words "intravenous infusions" or "drips". Infusion machines are special devices, medics call them pumps, for intravenous infusions. They are indispensable for intoxication and dehydration of cats and dogs, to treat various diseases.
Here's what veterinarian Marina Nefyodova, to whom we have brought hundreds of injured animals in 5 years, says:
"The infusion machine simplifies everything. I can adjust both speed and volume depending on the complexity of the situation, which is very important when treating very small puppies and kittens. It's as sensitive to the pets' movements as possible. If the animal changes posture, we will hear a signal. There is no need to hold anyone in your arms - this is very uncomfortable. The cat or dog is lying in a comfortable position. You can calmly put the animal in the cage, turn on the device - I have no doubt about its safety - and treat others. Our clinic really needs a new infusion machine.
We are fundraising for four new infusomats. Volunteers who save animals need electronic helpers!
