Naughty Alice needs to be tested for a genetic mutation

Alice is a motor girl who loves an active life filled with childhood, games, and sunny days. The rainbow-colored days suddenly turned gray when the family learned that their princess was seriously ill.

It happened in January 2021, when Alice was diagnosed with cancer - fetal rhabdomyosarcoma of the bladder and abdomen. "We used to think of cancer as something distant and 'not ours.' Of course it was a blow," mom Maria recalls.

"We treated, recovered, and treated again. Alice is a very mobile child and can not sit still, so the chemistry and endured a skipping" - continues Maria. Her main treatment is over, she is now at home with her family in Chaykovsky, Perm region. But this is for now, because soon Alisa will have to return to hospital to continue her fight with the disease.

Doctors do not exclude treatment with a targeted therapy, but in order to make sure that the therapy is suitable for Alisa we recommend taking a genetic test - a panel on tumor susceptibility syndrome. Such a test will show whether there is a break in the gene that caused the disease and whether a targeted therapy can be started. If the test confirms the mutation in the gene, such therapy will help Alice to defeat the disease definitively.
