This is Lera, she lives in rehabilitation center in Astrakhan. She is 14 years. She has experienced repeated betrayal by adults who were responsible for her. Her mother was deprived of parental rights, the girl was in different rehabilitation centers, foster parents were removed from custody. Lera gets very attached to people close to her, and then adults neglect her needs when she especially needs to cope with age-related changes and not a simple character. Having appeared in our center, Lera was like a hurricane, demolishing everything in its path, and both adults and children got it. The girl was hurt by what was happening in her life. Ksenia, a teacher-psychologist at the center, was trained in the course "Narrative Approach", became interested in the methods and took two additional in-depth courses on short-term therapy and work with the family. The acquired knowledge and skills allowed the specialist to help Lera expand her perspective on what is happening in her life, preserve stable attachments with the employees of previous centers, see her qualities, skills, abilities and gain hope for care in a new foster family. A teacher-psychologist uses his skills acquired during training also with children who have conflicts with their parents and are in rehabilitation at the center. Methods of "Genogram" (study of family history) and the "Tree of Life" allows teenagers to see themselves as part of a large family, to be charged with positive feelings for their parents, to learn important information about themselves and loved ones. Support the STEP Resource Center project so that such changes take place in other orphanages thanks to the love and skill of teachers who have mastered new knowledge about helping and supporting children in difficult life situations. Every specialist who has been trained on the course will be able to influence the lives of such children, helping them to see their good sides, overcome difficult problems. Each of our students actively shares knowledge and experience with their colleagues - raising the level of psychological culture and helping to form a new approach to working with orphaned children.
