The surgery on the right eye for little Saliha was a success!

Salikha Akmatbekova was born 11 weeks premature and weighed only 1 kg at birth. The baby spent the first month and a half of her life in the hospital, including three weeks on oxygen. After discharge, Saliha was so weak that her mother had to feed her with breast milk through a syringe. The other day the five-month-old baby was diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity stage 4. This disease without proper treatment leads to retinal detachment and blindness. But if she undergoes surgery soon - first on one eye and then later on the other - Salihi stands a good chance of saving her eyesight! They do not have these operations in Kyrgyzstan, but Salikha can be helped at the Children's Clinical Hospital in St. Petersburg. But all treatment for CIS citizens has to be paid for. Salikha has two older brothers, her mother takes care of the children at home, and her father works. But unfortunately a family from a small village in the Kyrgyz Republic cannot afford to pay for the necessary operations. That's why they turn to us for help.
