Vova from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is 23 years old. He was an ordinary boy, loved his mother, worshipped his older brother, and loved sports. When he was 15, he came home from another training session, ran out to his friends in the yard, and then suddenly collapsed. His heart wasn't beating. It wasn't until twenty minutes later that his heart managed to start beating. Since then, Vova has not moved, has not spoken, and hardly reacts to the outside world. Now he is a grown up bedridden young man with periodic convulsive seizures who needs to be washed, his clothes changed, and regularly turned over to prevent bedsores. His parents do this, because this "new Vova" is their beloved son. Mom is small, skinny and cannot lift him all the time. Daddy works all the time, and although he cares a lot about the family, he can't be with Vova all the time. Yes, mom has a great helper, Vova's younger sister Lisa, but even together they would not be able to turn their relative. The functional bed, which the Vera Foundation bought for the family back in 2014, helped a lot, but it had used up its life: the sections stopped rising.
