Violet is 26 years old, and she’s been fighting blood cancer for 5 of them.
She underwent many courses of chemo and bone marrow transplant. She went into remission, but 100 days later it turned out she had graft-versus-host disease. Donor cell recognized her own cells as enemies and attacked them.
First it attacked her mucous membranes. She lost 20 kilos, because it was painful to eat. Then the disease attacked her liver. Then her joints.
She couldn’t crook her fingers, so even the simplest task, like washing dishes, is almost a heroic act for her.
