Islamia is the physical therapist for our foundation. She makes home visits to the children in various Russian cities, especially to places where there is little or no help for children with a difficult diagnosis - spina bifida, or spina bifida. On a home visit, Islamia determines the goals of rehabilitation, selects wheelchairs and standing devices, evaluates the situation in the apartment and arranges an accessible environment, devises games and activities that are useful and accessible to the ward, despite his or her physical limitations. Answers all of the parents' questions of concern. Such support and professional help is extremely important for wards of the Foundation. It is these visits that allow the child's needs and limitations to be identified and, most importantly, to prevent the development of secondary impairments. In addition to face-to-face sessions, specialists from the foundation do methodological work: they write recommendations for schools and kindergartens which the children attend, draw up individual lesson plans, write reports on the results of sessions with the children and much more. Such work should also be paid. After all, the quality of visits and, as a result, the recovery process of a child diagnosed with spina bifida depends on the planning of work with children.
