Rifkat has been successfully treated for brain inflammation!

Rifkat is 3 months old. When mother and baby were discharged from the hospital, everything seemed to be going well. However, after nine days, the baby had cramps and turned blue. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with meningitis. Then an ultrasound scan showed enlarged ventricles of the brain, as well as a large amount of fluid, which could not drain out and there was compression of the brain. As a consequence, there was damage to the central nervous system.

The child was put on a shunt, and a few days later he became ill, the doctors said that the shunt did not fit, it had to be removed. The boy underwent another surgery and had an external shunt put in. The doctors detected an infection and started antibiotic drops. But the fluid kept accumulating, and the inflammation of the brain progressed.

Our foundation helped pay for another bypass surgery. But these funds and those of other foundations were not enough to complete the treatment, due to its complexity and duration.
