More than 60 adults are treated weekly in the Department of Antitumor Therapy No. 1 of the Ufa Cancer Center. Chemotherapy is very hard on the condition of people, they often experience weakness, nausea and dizziness. In this state, one wants to lie in a darkened cool room, but this, unfortunately, is not available for the patients of the department. The wards and treatment rooms in this part of the building face west, and in the afternoon it is very difficult to stay in the rooms: there is nowhere to hide from the sun and the air heats up. The first thing that people undergoing treatment here, as well as doctors and nurses, ask for are curtains. According to sanitary standards, hospitals must have curtains made of a special material that can be cleaned with harsh household products. Ordinary fabric curtains will not work. The situation is similar in the oncology department of the Republican Children's Hospital. Here treatment rooms, where children receive chemotherapy drips, donate blood, and come in for stitches after surgery, are also face west. In addition, there is another hospital building nearby, and in the evening you can see everything that happens in the treatment rooms from there. This brings great discomfort to the child, and parents, and nurses. The budget allocated to hospitals primarily goes to the purchase of medicines and medical equipment; usually little is thought about the comfort of patients. That is why we are opening a collection for the purchase of curtains and blinds for children's and adult oncology departments.
