Khanum is 15 years old. She and her family live in a village in Azerbaijan. Father is a pensioner, disabled of group 2. Due to lack of working places in the country and the rural area, mother keeps the house and the garden. Younger brother is a schoolboy.
In autumn 2019 Khanum started to have pains in her leg. The girl did medical checkup in Azerbaijan, Baku, and was diagnosed osteosarcoma in the left femur bone. The diagnosis was confirmed in Moscow, in Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology. Khanum was provided with the treatment schedule. The family had money only for examination in Moscow, so the girl returned home to continue the treatment in Baku. Unfortunately, the specialists in the National Oncological Center in Baku were not able to follow prescribed scheme, as there are no such pharmaceuticals and no experience in this kind of treatment. Khanum's condition became worse, and she and her father returned to Moscow.
Khanum started the treatment in Moscow at the Morozov City Children's Hospital, had two courses of chemotherapy with high-dose methotrexate. The therapy had positive effect; the girl’s condition improved significantly. The treatment was paid with the support of a charity fund.
The next course at Morozov Children's Hospital was cancelled due to the situation with the Coronovirus, the father tried to find other opportunities to save his daughter.
The clinic of the State Budgetary Institution "Scientific and Practical Center of Specialized Children's Aid named after V.F. Voyno-Yasenetsky Department of Healthcare of Moscow" was found by referral. According to the doctors’ conclusion Khanum requires further chemotherapy. Urgency is conditioned by the disease severity, malignancy and aggressiveness of the tumor.
Since the child is not a citizen of the Russian Federation, it is impossible to receive the treatment free of charge. Now Khanum is in the hospital, she is getting the 1st course of chemotherapy. This course and part of the 2nd one was paid by a charity fund. To continue the treatment, 154,000 rubles is required.
Khanum is a very brave girl, she was a good helper to her parents, she dreams to become a doctor. Let's help to make dreams come true!
