Parts of Vicki's skull had fused prematurely, leaving her brain with no room to grow. Hence the temporal cavities and the sloping forehead.
Vika's skull was operated on four times to keep it in the correct shape, and the girl avoided disability. However, a fifth, decisive operation on the eye sockets and skull was required.
At first, neurosurgeons reshaped Vikina's skull with titanium plates, moved her forehead forward by an entire centimeter and gave her brain some space, and two months later - a new operation: the titanium plates had to be removed. At the age of 9, there was another one. This time the doctors "straightened out" the back of her head. Vika lived quietly for three years: she studied, developed, grew. And together with Vika her head grew, its shape changed. Her eye sockets became deformed, her eyelids lowered, her vision went down, and her forehead was covered with bumps.
She needed another surgery. The doctors believe it will be the last one.
