Dima fell ill in February 2023. High fever, unpleasant sensations in the throat. Dima was taken to the infectious diseases department in an ambulance. In the morning, blood was taken for analysis and already at lunch they reported poor results and possible leukemia — 89% of bone marrow damage.

Dima was treated at a pediatric hospital in St. Petersburg and went into remission. But doctors can't send him home yet. They say that Dima has minimal residual disease. And this is a high risk of relapse. It is impossible to achieve stable remission of the disease without bone marrow transplantation.

To proceed with the transplant, it is necessary to carry out total irradiation of Dima's body. This will help to increase the survival rate of donor cells and reduce the risk of recurrence after transplantation.
