Twelve-year-old Malika loves dancing, going to school and weaving incredible beaded handbags. The girl dreams of opening her own production of small author's accessories. But in order to make her dream come true, Malika needs to be cured.
Because of a genetic breakdown, her immune system is not working properly - it attacks and rejects its own cells. Now Malika's medical records show several diagnoses - primary immunodeficiency, interstitial lung disease and bronchial asthma. That means the congenital immune pathology has had the biggest impact on her respiratory system.
"Excruciating coughs, obstructions, high fever for weeks... How she endured it, I don't know," says mom Zulfiya. Doctors have long been selecting effective and safe therapy for Malika, and only recently were able to find a combination of drugs that allow the girl to breathe in peace.
It will take months to get these drugs under a quota from the Ministry of Health. And the girl needs treatment right now - then she will be able to live a full life without fear of another attack.
