Children who grew up in orphanages often face difficulties in acquiring basic life skills, struggle with self-care, and sometimes cannot express their needs. When foster parents try to teach these skills, the children often resist and compare their new life with the orphanage, where everything was done by trained professionals. These children carry a difficult history: lives marked by abuse, neglect, and loneliness. But we are confident that they can be helped, taught to care for themselves, and supported through their adaptation process. It’s also crucial to train foster parents on how to work effectively with children in these situations.
