Fatima Umalatova from Makhachkala was born with an atrial septal defect. At first, the hole was 8.5 mm, and then it completely increased to 1 centimeter. Doctors insisted on the surgery, but this required an occluder.
The occluder is like a small umbrella. It is introduced through the vessel in a folded form and straightens out, permanently closing the defect. A half-hour procedure - and the heart is healthy. The only problem - the occluder is very expensive and is not covered by the Obligatory medical insurance policy policy state. The Umalatovs simply did not have the required amount.

“I didn’t even hope that it would happen so soon. The surgery went well. Discharged on the second day. Fatima quickly got to her feet, is already playing and laughing", - writes mom.
