Dmitry completed rehabilitation after a stroke and is ready to keep fighting.

"I was hospitalized after a stroke. It was then that I learned about the ORBI Foundation from a fellow sufferer, and, not expecting much, I submitted a request. To my surprise, I received a quick response offering assistance!" recalls Dmitry. After reviewing the documents, the foundation launched a fundraising campaign, and a few months later, I received the long-awaited news: I was going for rehabilitation at the Speech Pathology and Neurorehabilitation Center! This was a huge opportunity for me, as my family did not have the funds for such treatment, and without professional help, recovery could take years. What did rehabilitation give me? ✔ Intensive sessions — every day with speech therapists, physical therapy, and other procedures. ✔ Progress in speech and daily skills — I became more independent and started to believe that I could return to a full life. ✔ Support from a psychologist — before the trip, the foundation organized consultations for me, which helped me cope with anxiety. But most importantly, I gained a goal and motivation. Due to my speech problems, I could hardly communicate with my wife and children and was constantly in despair. But now I know: I will learn to speak again and be able to participate in my family's life! Of course, it’s impossible to fully recover in just one month — I still have work to do with speech therapists. But I won’t give up: I will practice on my own and visit specialists whenever possible.
