n September, Andrei was hit by a train and miraculously survived. To save the man, doctors had to amputate his right leg. When the first shock passed, Andrei decided: he needed to get back on his feet at all costs.
Andrey does not have Russian citizenship, so he cannot register for disability and receive a free prosthesis. He also doesn’t have the money to pay for the manufacture of the prosthesis himself (about 400 thousand rubles). After being discharged from the hospital, the man ended up in a homeless shelter: he could no longer work at a construction site and pay rent.
And in January, Andrei attended his first appointment at the Charity Clinic. We decided to try to make a prosthesis for the patient ourselves so that he could start walking again.
***
When Andrey first put on the prosthesis and carefully took the first step, it looked like magic: only he entered the office on arm crutches, and now he stands on two legs and tries to walk. Himself!
For Andrey, making a prosthesis and seeing doctors, like other patients at the Charity Clinic, are free. Support our project to raise money for the work of traumatologist and nurse so that we can continue to help people get back on their feet: Thank you!
