For the second year, 16-year-old Mehrona has been battling a serious cancer - osteosarcoma.
Several courses of chemotherapy, the heaviest surgery to remove the tumour and replace the affected joint with an endoprosthesis are behind her. Treatment is yielding good results, but Mehrona still has a long road to recovery ahead of her.
Back home in Tajikistan, Mehrona could not be helped. Last spring, Dilshod, Mehrona's father, brought his daughter to Moscow for treatment. The father left his job to be by his daughter's side and help her through her ordeal. Mum stayed at home with two small children in her arms.
"After the operation, Mehrona learnt to walk again, at first with crutches, and now she is already taking her first steps on her own. Her daughter does not lose heart, she has a goal - to recover as soon as possible and help others. She dreams of becoming an oncologist," says Dilshod.
To continue the fight against a serious illness, one needs funds. For Mehrona, as a foreigner, treatment is only paid and expensive.
A break in treatment threatens the life of the 16-year-old girl.
Let's help Mehrona to overcome the disease and fulfil her dream!
