The Kirilin family home is far from the river - the family had hoped to the last minute that they would not have to evacuate. But by the evening of that day, when the water began to rise, it became clear that they could not wait out the elements in their home. We evacuated with a minimum of belongings. The only transportation was a passenger car. The younger children were taken by car. Daddy and the older ones got there by themselves. There are four children in the family - each collected a small backpack of essentials, only six-year-old Xenia helped her mother - the girl has a developmental delay, she was very frightened, and would not have coped on her own.
When the water had gone - I went to check the house: only the walls were intact, and everything that was nailed to them above one and a half meters high. There were framed photos hanging in the rooms, in the kitchen - the upper cabinets and shelves. Neighbors stopped by, saying they were still lucky. But the family couldn't go home yet. Dad opened up the floors to dry the foundation. They need to replace the boards. The appliances have either fallen into disrepair or floated away. Of the clothes, the only thing left is what's snagged on obstacles, but there's no way to even wash them. All the furniture, ruined, the children no longer have beds.
Compensation will not cover even part of the cost of rebuilding the house. If we help the family, Ksyusha, her sisters and parents will be able to return home sooner.
