Two–year-old Mustafa is a curious child who is learning about the world around him with interest. The boy loves to watch cartoons and play with his older brother. However, sadly, they haven’t seen each other in a long time, because Mustafa is currently undergoing complicated treatment in the hospital.
In August 2023, Mustafa’s parents noticed that he began to stagger while walking. He also began to have vomiting attacks and began to develop strabismus. Doctors ordered an MRI scan for Mustafa, which revealed that these symptoms were being caused by a brain tumor.
To fight the sickness, the boy underwent surgery to remove the tumor and install an Ommaya reservoir, which allows medication to be injected into the ventricles of the brain. Furthermore, Mustafa was prescribed courses of chemotherapy, one of which he has completed thanks to the support and compassion of users of the Tooba platform.
Next, Mustafa will undergo sequential high-dose chemotherapy with bone marrow autotransplantation. The doctor has prescribed the maximum endurable dose of chemotherapy to the boy in order to most effectively suppress tumor growth. In order to support the body after such a procedure, in advance the patient’s bone marrow is stimulated, and stem cells are extracted from the bloodstream. After chemotherapy, these stem cells are injected back into the patient’s system. This helps reduce the severity of the side effects.
Mustafa's family once again needs our help in paying for treatment. Let's help the boy fight this sickness together.
